Whether on the Mediterranean or Atlantic coast, idyllic and still unexploited beaches will be tomorrow's fashionable seaside resorts. Here is a taster…
The biggest project on this section of the Moroccan coast is the seaside resort of Mediterrania-Saïda. Located right opposite Andalusia and close to the Algerian border, this resort lies in more than 1700 acres with a 6km white sand seafront. Hotels, apartments and villas welcome all those who want to take advantage of these magnificent beaches and the pleasure port and 18-hole golf course, all close to two international airports, Oujda and Nador.
The Roman archeological site of Lixus, registered on Unesco's World Heritage list, boasts a superb beach extending for several kilometers. The beach of El Jadida in Haouzia, formerly Mazagan, is experiencing a boom and becoming more and more successful. This may be due to the beautiful eucalyptus forest bordering it and the magnificent golf course nearby. The 50km-long Plage Blanche is located to the south of Sidi Ifni. The idyllic spot is part of the Plan Azur. A seaside development due to see the creation of a hotel complex, a golf course and vacation apartments. Near to Essaouira, the seaside resort of Mogador has long fine-sandy beaches cooled by the trade winds creating a warm climate suited to board sports. Two 18-hole golf courses facing the sea charm both experienced amateurs and beginners. Finally, Mogador benefits from its proximity to Essaouira, famous both for its thalassotherapy and its Gnaoua music festival. A little further south, 20km north of Agadir, the little fishing village of Taghazout is a real paradise for surfers, protected by the surrounding mountains and enjoying more than 300 days of sunshine a year! Finally, right in the south, Dakhla and its bay are beginning to experience significant development, respectful to this exceptional natural and sporting site.
Morocco still has numerous treasures to offer. Be the first to enjoy them.
