There are no fewer than nine magnificent golf courses to enjoy while soaking up the imperial capitals of the Alaouite dynasty. And beaches are never far away.
Dar Es Salam Royal Golf Club (45 holes, par 73 red course - 6702m, par 72 blue course - 6220m, par 32 green course - 2060m) is the course where the famous Hassan II Trophy was officially started in 1971 and designed by Robert Trent Jones. It offers splendid fairways snaking between palm and eucalyptus trees and Roman remains. Players such as Vijay Singh, Billy Casper, Santiago Luna, Payne Stewart, Colin Montgomery and Nick Faldo have distinguished themselves there.
Fez Royal Golf Club (18 holes, par 72, 6542m) was designed by Cabell B. Robinson in a magnificent olive grove. The course is hilly, with lakes and gigantic bunkers (the largest being 1200 m2!).
Meknès Royal Golf Club (9 holes, par 36, 2610m) was opened in 1969. This course has a lot of cachet from the fortifications which house the clubhouse and the view over the minarets of the medina. Lit-up at night for an evening round!
Benslimane Royal Golf Club (27 holes, par 72 and 36, 6065m and 2990m): a breath of fresh air in a forest of cork oak and eucalyptus.
El Jadida Royal Golf Club (18 holes, par 72, 6226m) beautiful scented forests and three holes overlooking the ocean.
Anfa Royal Golf Club (9 holes, par 35, 2700m): a course in the heart of Casablanca.
Mohammedia Royal Golf Club (18 holes, par 72, 5870m): on the seafront with a crosswind. Designed in 1930.
Settat University Royal Golf Club (9 holes, par 37, 3215m): a relaxed and academic course!
Bouznika Bay Golf Club (9 holes, par 35, 3040m): beach, sea and green! Lit-up at night.
A single holiday is not enough to play these nine golf courses and visit the surrounding areas. But what a pleasure to come back again!
